Galilee is an Episcopal camp and retreat center that offers meaningful and adventurous programs for youth, adults and families. In 2020 we celebrated our 100th year! As an employee at Galilee, you’ll take the lead in building a welcoming community where kids and adults can flourish. The camp is located in Glenbrook, Nevada, right on the shore of Lake Tahoe, one of the most breathtaking sites of natural beauty in the country.
Galilee is accredited by the American Camping Association, and is a member of the Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers.
Applicants need not be Episcopalian or possess any particular faith, yet they must embrace an attitude of openness and respect towards all belief systems.
Summer Camp Positions

Camp Counselor
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 16 and completed equivalent of 10th grade
- Preferred experience engaging with youth
- REQUIRED – Must LOVE working with kids!
- Attend all of Counselor Training with successful completion from June 18-25, 2026
- Work minimum of 3 camper sessions between June 28-July 31
Job Description:
- Support the physical and emotional health of campers.
- Contribute to group development and assist in supervising campers day and night.
- Collaborate with co-counselors and staff to develop and deliver creative and engaging activities and experiences for our campers.
- Support our camp community and operations with doing basic housekeeping, maintenance projects, and assisting in the kitchen with food prep and washing dishes
- Lead campers during counselor and staff breaks, meals, and special events.
- Mentor campers and *LIGHTs. Invite them into the daily learning and doing of all activities and experiences
- Lead majority of games, time fillers, name games, and basic team building activities
- Fulfill designated off-site adventure roles (based off of level experience and / or interest)
- Support wake-up, cabin time, and bedtime with campers
- Lead parts of our celebration dance party, campfire, all camp adventures, campers’ choice and free time activities.
- Other duties as assigned

Free American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is offered for staff and counselors June 5-8 at Galilee. Please inquire during your interview if you are interested.
Pay:
The base rate $200-300/week, plus a place to live on the lake during summer, 5-star meals, and lots of new friends!

Resident Staff
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 18
- Current First Aid and CPR certification through August 1, 2026. Must be through the American Red Cross or another certifying agency approved by the American Camp Association. Staff may opt to take a free Lifeguard Training at Galilee, in which they would receive the First Aid and CPR training. See below.**
- Experience working with youth
- Basic mentorship and leadership preferred, but not required
- Experience working at camp preferred but not required
- REQUIRED – Must LOVE working with kids!
- Attend all of Staff and Counselor Training with successful completion (June 12-25, 2026)
- Work full summer, 5 camper sessions (June 28-July 31, 2026)

- Create opportunities for counselors to plan and facilitate activities (balance with what they thrive in and challenge where they can grow), while still acting as the lead facilitator in the week’s program and flow.
- Team development and conflict management
- Point-person for all off-site / high adventure trips
- Lead facilitator for advanced team building activities
- Mentor campers, LIGHTs*, and a designated group of counselors weekly throughout summer and invite them into the daily learning and doing of all activities and experiences
- Facilitate wake-up, cabin time, and bedtime for the campers, while delegating some of those tasks to counselors
- Lead parts of celebration, campfire, all camp adventures, campers’ choice and free time activities.

Volunteer Camp Nurse
If you’re an RN or physician and care deeply for youth, Galilee could be the one-week gig for you! As a volunteer Camp Nurse, you’ll oversee the health program for campers and staff, helping us to safely enjoy the rewarding activities that camp offers. There is time each day to join in camp programs that appeal to you, or just relax on the beach. Nutritious, healthy meals are provided, as well as a comfortable room in a beautiful lakeside lodge.
Volunteer Camp Nurse Duties:
- Serve as a role model for youth and uphold the goals of the Galilee program.
- Administer prescribed Rx to campers.
- Perform first aid using standing orders approved by a physician and seek advanced medical care if necessary.
- Provide care and infirmary supervisions as needed for campers with minor illnesses.
- Respond to campers’ medical and psychosomatic complaints with understanding and compassion.
- Be on-call for medical emergencies throughout the camp session.
- Build good rapport and trust with campers, counselors, and staff.
- Free room and board for your week.
- One “campership” allowing a child of your choosing to attend camp for free one week during the summer.
- Your family can stay with you for the week.

Retreat Staff
Position Summary:
Here at Camp Galilee, we are seeking a welcoming, hardworking, reliable, and flexible individual to join our tiny but mighty team as Retreat Staff at our small retreat center. This role is essential in cultivating compassion, curiosity and community for all our guests. Our Retreat Staff assist with a variety of operational, housekeeping and kitchen related tasks as well as being a friendly face around camp.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Services & Hospitality
- Provide assistance and information throughout guests’ stay.
- Support a calm and friendly atmosphere consistent with Galilee’s mission.
- Program Support
- Clean and set up retreat buildings and cabins.
- Help coordinate schedules, signage, and transitions between guest stays (indoor living spaces, including bedrooms and bathrooms, and outdoor spaces).
- Housekeeping & Maintenance
- Participate in cleaning duties, bedroom spaces, bathrooms, and common areas.
- Report and support any maintenance issues for buildings and property. Support and complete maintenance tasks and projects.
- Support snow removal during the winter months.
- Meal Service Support
- Help with meal preparation, serving, and dishwashing.
- Ensure dining area remains clean and organized.
- Support food service with careful accommodation of dietary restrictions.
- Community & Team Collaboration
- Participate in weekly team meetings or check-ins.
- Demonstrate flexibility to help where most needed.
Qualifications & Preferred Qualities:
- Prior experience in hospitality, event support, or a similar service role preferred.
- Comfortable with a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
- Respect for a quiet, reflective, and often spiritual or wellness-focused environment.
- Comfortable and supportive in working with people and serving groups of ALL identities and belief systems.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods.
- Basic kitchen, housekeeping, or facilities skills.
