About Us

The Mission of Galilee Episcopal Camp and Retreat Center is to be a sanctuary cultivating compassion, curiosity, and community.

Discover Galilee

Galilee is an Episcopal Camp and Retreat Center defined by a rich tradition of loving community, friendships and enjoyment in the great outdoors.

The camp proudly celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020! Many of Galilee’s campers, staff and guest clergy have been visiting Galilee for multiple generations.

Set in one of the most breathtaking examples of God’s creation, Galilee is situated on picturesque waterfront property at Lake Tahoe in Glenbrook, Nevada. The historic and picturesque St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church is located on the grounds and has been providing services at this site since 1948.

Galilee is owned by the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada and managed by dedicated on-site staff in cooperation with the Galilee Board of Trustees, St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church, and the Diocese.

Whether you are a returning visitor or experiencing Galilee for the first time, the camp promises an enriching experience that echoes the warmth and joy of its century-long legacy.

Summer Camp

Galilee’s summer camping program helps youth develop deep relationships with their peers, caring counselors, the natural world and God. Campers kayak on Lake Tahoe, rock climb, camp out under the stars, make music and art, and much more!

Year-Round Programs

Throughout the year, Galilee extends its hospitality beyond the summer months by facilitating adult programs. Program participants are offered a chance to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature, each other, and themselves in a serene setting.

"When I came to Camp Galilee in 2021 providing leadership to the exchange students I could not believe what I was looking at. Only upon arriving had I realized it was the same exact place I was 23 years before, as an exchange student from Brazil. That brought back wonderful memories and, of course, happy tears. Galilee is still the same beautiful place that gives us wonderful fun times and growth experiences. Now, as a leader, I am thrilled to be able to provide to students the magical moments that once were given to me by other volunteers."
