Outdoor School

Throughout much of the fall, winter and spring, Galilee is home to Great Basin Outdoors School. A local nonprofit, Great Basin is dedicated to igniting children’s passion for learning and fostering cooperation, respect, and responsibility through hands-on discovery in the outdoor classroom. Children learn during four-day field studies building academic and social skills and developing their understanding of the natural world. Fifth and sixth grade classes, high school and college students, and teachers study local ecology with standards-based lessons on site at Galilee and at other nearby natural attractions. Service-learning projects and place-based education help develop a commitment to sustainability and a connection to the earth.
