About the Episcopal Church
The Episcopal Church is a member of the
worldwide Anglican Communion, with 70 million members in 163 countries.
We are a community of Christians bound together by our belief that
Holy Scripture contains the very core of all Christian faith. Through
the many ancient, as well as modern, stories that connects us to
Jesus and his teachings, we discover God’s hope and call to us in
our life together. .
Church History
Built in Goldfield, Nevada in 1907, portions
of the church were dismantled and moved more than 300 miles to Lake
Tahoe in 1947. The original wood beams, pews and paneling were preserved
and still serve in the church. The cornerstone of the Goldfield
church was placed in the southeast corner of the reconstructed sanctuary,
which was completed in 1948.
Setting
The window behind the alter looks across the azure
waters of Lake Tahoe where a cross is visible in the snow in the
crevices of Mt. Tallac. Framed in the simplicity of the masonry,
the view of the window is remembered by all that visit Galilee.
